✨ Thank you for considering making your next furniture purchase from a local Maker!! ✨
✨ Built by Jessie is a one lady show. That said, each piece of furniture I make is handmade by me.
✨ I spend a great deal of time carefully designing and planning your furniture build before any material is selected or tool is picked up.
✨ I select each piece of wood that will become part of your furniture carefully and thoughtfully. I select these pieces for their own unique sets of characteristics (knots, grains, cracks and holes). I select the lumber, cut, sand, glue, paint/stain and apply top coats all by myself and by hand.
✨ The lumber I use is locally sourced. For the most part, I use Pine or Douglas Fir primarily on all my furniture pieces. There are occasions when a build calls for plywood or MDF. When using plywood, I only use soy-based formaldehyde-free hardwood plywood.
✨ Cedar can be used for an outdoor piece. Although, pine or fir can be used and sealed with exterior paint/top coat if it will not be in direct access to the rain.
✨ If you rather have your furniture made from hardwoods such as White Oak and Ash, I can certainly accommodate. Just be sure to let me know right away. There is an up-charge for hardwoods. The up-charge is simply the difference in material cost to me.
✨ When inquiring for a custom furniture build, be sure to provide the size are listed for each piece; however, they can be altered upon request. Those are the perks of handmade items. Furthermore, sizes can vary +/- 1 inch.
✨ Built by Jessie furniture is stained/painted and two coats of sealant (topcoat) are applied for protection.
Wood can never be “IKEA” white.
✨ Please keep in mind that the knots in the wood may bleed through the paint over time. That is to say that the knots will become more visible with time. Real wood has real and organic characteristics. If knots are not your thing, just let me know. I can take additional steps to deter the knots from showing.
If this is your first time you are commissioning a piece of furniture from Built by Jessie, please read these notes for additional information. If you still have questions, feel free to send me an e-mail.
• Production time (lead time) ranges from 4 – 8 weeks, once orders are open. Time varies depending upon the size of the piece of furniture.
• I do not offer delivery service. The pick-up location is in Pembroke Pines. Some clients have used white glove delivery service they have arranged on their own. Others have come to my “shop” to pick it up on their own.
• Seasonal movement (as it is most commonly known) in solid wood furniture can cause the seams to shrink or expand as it naturally reacts to your own homes unique environment. By its very nature, wood is “alive” and although we do our best to combat its nature, it does move.
• I use Varathane (by Rust-Oleum) stains and paint colors (available at Lowe’s and Home Depot). Two toned furniture (such as painted base and stained top) can also be done.
• Drawer hardware, such as knobs and drawer pulls) must be provided or specific link to order must be given.
• The deposit is half and it is non-refundable. Deposit can be sent through PayPal.
• Invoice can be paid through PayPal. Remaining balance must be paid prior to pick-up.
• Order must be picked-up within a week of [completion] notification.
• Stains cannot be an exact match of an existing furniture. Wood is a natural species and it takes stains differently.
• I look forward to collaborating with you to design and build the perfect piece of furniture for you.
